Curriculum:

The curriculum of Maarif International School Ghana reflects and supports its mission and vision. We use international educational approach standards at the Pre-school.

The curriculum at the Pre-school

Our curriculum evolved a philosophy of human development that spark major educational movements and influence child development. The educational approach is structured around to promote the child’s natural self-initiated impulse to become absorbed in a rich environment and to learn from it. Our teaching methods focus on the “whole child" and not on a range of academic disciplines.

When a child has been taught how to think and is invested in directing their own learning, the following life skills emerge:

Ability to concentrate well

Sense of personal dignity

Independence

Self-motivation

Love of order

Classroom size

MIS Pre-school class sizes range from 10 to 14 learners, a teacher, and an assistant teacher. The Teacher prepares the environment encouraging children to choose the order in which to complete assigned tasks for the week and learn to manage their time through the use of a Weekly Plan. Children self-correct and review their efficiency levels at the end of each week. They then initiate the necessary action for greater efficiency the following week.

Primary

The curriculum of Maarif International School at the Primary reflects and supports its mission and vision. We use international educational approach standards in the Primary section. Our primary program is for six (6) years old children and divided into 2 levels namely lower and upper primary.

This is developed to inspire our pupils to become responsible, engaged, and confident. Subjects areas taught at the Primary are English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, ICT, and P.E.

History and Geography, even though all the topics taught are not exclusively about Ghana, care is taken to make topics relevant to our African setting and teach them enough at that level about Ghanaian history and African history as well. Pupils are introduced to the natural phenomena associated with the earth’s surface as well as the natural interaction of human activities and the environment.

Turkish, French, P. E., and Music are also on the timetable. These are taught by specialists. Physical Education is done once a week by a specialized P.E. teacher. At this level, it is to help develop the child’s speed and endurance, improve their coordination, and to foster team spirit in them, unless a pupil is medically unfit, it is compulsory
